Has Utv Signed Akki For 75 Crore's ? ? ?

Here's the hottest rumour doing the rounds of the industry. UTV, which has a slew of projects on floors and is still planning a few more projects, has signed Akshay Kumar for a whopping Rs. 75 crores. If true, it would be the highest ever price paid to any actor in Bollywood.

However, a trustworthy source at UTV laughed aloud when I called to verify the development. "That's not true! We have signed Akki for one of our forthcoming projects, but the price is nowhere close to what you've heard. And we wouldn't like to go on record to confirm the actual price," he said.

But the fact remains that Akki is the most sought-after actor in Bollywood today, in the same league as SRK.

Indo-Pak cultural ties never had it so good…at least on this side of the border. Pakistan's well-known comic talent Omar Sharif is now directing a love story entitled Tum Mere Ho for Chicago-based producer Masood Ali.

But it's Suneil Shetty who intends to make the best of the Omar factor in Bollywood. Suneil has invited the comic virtuoso to write the screenplay for a wacky Bollywood comic thriller.

"We haven't given it a title. But what Omar Bhai has come up with isn't short of brilliant. It's brilliant and it's sassy. Yusuf Khan whom I launched as a director in Khel, will direct me in Omar Bhai's film later this year," enthuses Suneil on a rare trip to Mumbai from Amby Valley where he's currently stationed shooting for his big reality show The Biggest Loser.

Would there be a problem getting our Pakistani visitor into India? "Not at all," says Suneil. "We've never had a problem with guests from any part of the world. In fact some of these mehmaan from across the border have come to India and found great success. Omar Bhai won't just write this film, he'll be supervising the scenario, dialogues, scenes…"

Suniel is greatly enthused by the project. "We plan to shoot the film abroad. It could be Malaysia or Bali," promises Suniel. As for his director, "I've great faith in Yusuf. And so what if Khel didn't work? Together with Omar Bhai I'm sure we'll create a dhamaka."

Now 'Raaz 2' with Emraan Hashmi

Sequels and remakes are in! Bollywood is slowly waking up to this new trend thanks to the super-success of sequels and remakes in the recent past. Joining the bandwagon are the Bhatts [Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt], who are planning to start RAAZ 2, the sequel to the immensely successful RAAZ. While Vikram Bhatt had directed the original, RAAZ 2 will be directed by Mohit Suri, who has directed ZEHER, KALYUG and WOH LAMHE and has completed AWARAPAN for the Bhatts.

Well, here’s the latest on RAAZ 2. Emraan Hashmi has been confirmed for the principal role in the sequel. “So far, only Emraan has been signed. We will be casting one more guy and two girls,” Mohit informs me.

Will the actors of the original film [Dino Morea, Bipasha Basu] star in the sequel? “We haven’t spoken to them yet. Actually, we’ll take a call once we’re through with the script. The idea has been okayed, liked and approved. The next step is to work on the screenplay,” Mohit adds. RAAZ 2 will roll after AWARAPAN.
